Originally from Helsinki, Finland. Emmi moved to Ireland in 2006 to embrace all things Irish. With a passion for animals, she undertook a degree in science and veterinary nursing the following year. She started working part-time as a student vet nurse in a busy small animal practice in Dublin while completing her three-year Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Nursing degree.
All the hard work paid off and Emmi was awarded the best student award for academic achievements at graduation in 2010. After this Emmi joined the Veterinary Council of Ireland registry and became an RVN. She continued her studies in science and has a Bachelor of Science in Toxicology (Hons).
In 2015, she arrived to Australia for a holiday, but decided to stay and calls Sydney home now.
After 12 years in general practice, Emmi joined the SVES family beginning of 2020, wanting to pursue exciting world of emergency and critical care nursing.
Emmi has a special interest in radiology and fear-free handling of animals. She also has found a love for birds after working with beautiful Australian wildlife. Emmi does a lot of CPD to stay up to speed with new developments in the profession.
Outside work Emmi can be found snorkelling (all year around) or borrowing friends’ dogs for walks. She dreams of getting her very own fur-babies in the future.
