Dr Taryn Ann Bonnette is a South African Veterinarian that qualified from Onderstepoort University in November 2006 (BVSc, Internal Medicine Intern) the only Veterinary medicine faculty in South Africa. After graduation, she worked in a small, companion animal clinic near her home in Johannesburg.
In August 2008, she relocated to the Netherlands and it was there that Taryn discovered her passion for Internal Medicine. She was fortunate enough to follow the Advanced Internal Medicine courses for general practitioners at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. In addition, Taryn learnt to speak, read and write Dutch, to snowboard and developed her second passion; travel, visiting many countries throughout Europe and beyond, her travels guided by World heritage sites making many friends from all over the world.
After having lived in Europe for seven years, she returned to South Africa to work in a larger, 24-hour, companion animal clinic as a general practitioner under the guidance of a European board certified Internal Medicine specialist whilst exploring sub-Saharan Africa before relocating to Australia in February 2019. She completed an Internship in Small Animal medicine at a Small Animal Specialist hospital in NSW.
Her aspiration would be to sit her membership exams and finally complete a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine (with interests in Endocrinology and Gastroenterology), making Australia her home.
Taryn’s other interests include wine studies and tastings, gardening and running; having completed seven half marathons in four countries. Taryn will be participating in the Great Ocean road Marathon, which will be her first anticipated full marathon in 2021.
