Dr Katrina “Kookie” Hodge
Kookie grew up on the northern side of Sydney, but spent a good portion of her life down at her family’s farm in the Southern Highlands enjoying the wide open spaces and interactions with animals both big and small. Following school, she travelled and worked in the music industry, advertising and digital media before realising her true calling was with animals.
Kookie completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Science at The University of Sydney in 2014. After working for a few years down on the lovely south coast in general practice, she has returned to the big city to pursue work in emergency.
Throughout her career working with animals, Kookie’s family has slowly grown with adoptions – two mature cat siblings – Oliver and Indiana, two recent kitten foster fails – Pippin and Montana, an energetic Kelpie cross, Antalya who will do anything for a run or to chase a ball, and finally an entertaining parrot – a green cheeked conure, Piccolo.
In her spare time Kookie will seek out snow, whether it be on this side of the hemisphere, or the other. When she’s not skiing, she can be found hiking and camping with her partner and dog, or enjoying the quiet solitude of photographing birds and animals.
