Amanda (“Mandy”) knew from a young age that her strong passion for animals meant she would love to work in the animal care industry. Growing up she always had a large variety of pets; from the regular dogs, birds and rabbits to the not so common lizards and even hermit crabs.
She started off as an Animal Attendant back in 2014 while studying her Certificate II in Animal Studies and then her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She’s spent the next 4 years working as a nurse in a general practice clinic but after doing an emergency short course with ACVN, she knew she wanted to do more.
She joined the SVES team in 2019, keen to learn all she could and plans to complete her Diploma in Emergency Nursing and Critical Care. She’s always looking for the next thing to study and will never stop trying to further her education not just for herself but for her patients as well.
She has a cheeky kitten named Bruce and a Golden Retreiver puppy named Ellie at home and she adores them. Although she used to be called the “Golden Girl” at her last clinic for her love of Golden Retreivers, she loves all fur babies equally and treats them like her own.
She spends her spare time finding new restaurants and cafes to go to (she’s a massive foodie), exploring new nature walks and beaches, trying new action packed activities, hanging with family/friends or reading a good book.
