Sydney Veterinary Emergency & Specialists is looking for a Casual/Full-time ECC Nurse to join the nursing team! SVES Rosebery needs a spectacular nurse who is driven by patient care, client care and personal growth and who thrive in a positive work culture.

This exciting opportunity is for someone who is looking to pick up occasional shifts or work on a permanent full-time basis within the emergency space. We are looking for someone who loves the clinical management of trauma and critical care and is eager to grow as a professional nurse.

The positions involve, but are not limited to:

  • Triage of emergency patients
  • Responsible for organising and assisting on procedures on emergency patients
  • Skilled to perform anaesthesia on a range of patients from paediatric to geriatric patients and often critically ill patients for short and long procedures
  • Placement of IV catheters, phlebotomy, performing radiographs of diagnostic quality, intensive care and monitoring, pre and post-operative patient care
  • Work directly with specialists and emergency clinicians to ensure that the patient, clients, clinicians and team are all attended to and working in sync
  • Client communication – providing advice, answering questions and soothing client fears about the status of their pet
  • Cleaning – while we have a fantastic animal attendant team, the nurses still need to help to keep the hospital clean and tidy
  • The position includes on-going education allowances and access to various on-line training opportunities
  • Regular nurse meetings

About You:

  • You must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • You must be willing to work overnight shifts
  • Display professionalism, empathy and excellent customer service and care
  • Loves animals and respects clients
  • Great time management skills
  • Must have a current Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technician Diploma. For emergency nurse positions, experience in emergency and or referral practice is desirable but not essential
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified veterinary nurse
